Urgent & Emergency Care
The current model for urgent and emergency care is overly dependent on hospital services. Estimates suggest that between 1.5 and 3 million people across England come to A&E services each year could have their needs addressed in other parts of the system.
The aim of the Urgent and Emergency Care Network is to work across NHS care systems to:
- reduce unwarranted variation in care and access to services and improve the quality, safety and equity of Urgent and Emergency Care.
- provide high quality, safe, urgent and emergency care services available seven days a week addressing our population health needs.
- improve patient experience and clinical outcomes by delivering care in the right place, at the right time, provided by those with the right skills.
