The Wessex Cancer Alliance is working with the community and volunteering sector to build a social capital network.
Social capital can be a valuable tool in improving people’s health as it makes use of social groups and relationships to influence behaviour for the better. Our aim is to make use of community initiatives, social groups and local knowledge to help raise awareness of cancer, cancer screening and prevention so that people are diagnosed earlier or do not get cancer all.
We are currently asking for expressions of interest from organisations who will be able to help to us deliver this project across the Hampshire, Dorset and Isle of Wight region and who will work collaboratively with the Wessex Cancer Alliance, community groups, voluntary organisations and volunteer networks to achieve this.
